Bewick naskiĝis ĉe Cherryburn House ĉe la vilaĝo Mickley, en la municipo Ovingham, Northumberland, Anglio, ĉe Newcastle upon Tyne la 12an de aŭgusto 1753. Lia patro lulaboris malgrandan karbominon ĉe Mickley Bank, kaj sendis sian filon al lernejo de najbara vilaĝo Ovingham. Liaj nunaj posteuloj vivas en Nuneaton kaj Birmingham, Britio.
